Revelation 1: 14-16

1The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. 15 His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.

This imagery may sound familiar; in chapter ten of Daniel as well, the feet of Christ are also referred to as "polished bronze". On this page of the hello-bible.com blog is a graph of how the verses in different books of the Old Testament and New Testament overlap in regards to this part of Revelations about the appearance of Jesus. Scroll down to the table at mid-page here: link   This table also notes that a verse in Matthew 17 also refers to Jesus with His face "shining like the sun".

The double-edged sword coming out of Jesus' mouth in verse sixteen brings to mind Hebrews 4:12, which says, "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."  Christ is regarded as synonymous with the Word of God in modern Christian thinking, and this is underscored in the striking description of Christ with the sword coming from his mouth .

This concept is also repeated in the first verses of the Gospel of John, which read, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." All of this imagery makes it clear who is speaking in John's vision and that Jesus Christ is and has always been synonymous with the Word of God.
