Revelation 3:19-21

These are the last few verses of Revelation chapter three, which finishes Jesus' message to the church in Laodicea:

19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

21 To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

I really like that Jesus insists it is those that he loves that he disciplines. I have experienced this in my own life in ways that I did not experience before I recommitted my life to Jesus after being away from the church for so many years. I read through this thorough list of commentaries from Biblehub on Revelation 3:19 and I thought I would share the link as it contains input from several different scholars: link

Lately I have been really struggling with some after affects of my relapse into addiction a few years ago, and I really felt the impact of the word "victorious" that Christ is using here. Sometimes Christianity is peaceful and joyful and sometimes it truly is a battle. I know that through Christ I can do anything because of his strengthening me.

If you want to accept Salvation from Christ here are some resources:

A Prayer for Salvation from Christ:

Lord Jesus, I confess my sins and ask for your forgiveness. Please come into my heart as my Lord and Savior. Take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and for answering my prayer.
