Revelation 16:13-21

13 And I saw three foul spirits like frogs coming from the mouth of the dragon, from the mouth of the beast, and from the mouth of the false prophet. 14 These are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty. 15 (“See, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake and is clothed, not going about naked and exposed to shame.”) 16 And they assembled them at the place that in Hebrew is called Harmagedon.

17 The seventh angel poured his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, “It is done!” 18 And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a violent earthquake, such as had not occurred since people were upon the earth, so violent was that earthquake. 19 The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. God remembered great Babylon and gave her the wine-cup of the fury of his wrath. 20 And every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found; 21 and huge hailstones, each weighing about a hundred pounds, dropped from heaven on people, until they cursed God for the plague of the hail, so fearful was that plague.

So after the Euphrates has become dry, which has been happening for about ten years now, our time (see prior blog for video), three frog like creatures come out of the mouths of the dragon and the beast from the sea and from the land. The writer calls them demonic spirits that perform signs, which suggests that the dark powers can be performers of false prophecy when they are worshiped by the powers that will inflict the mark of the beast on humans.

Verse fifteen of this chapter is kind of an interjection that the writer at bibleref.com says is an allusion to Christ's warnings in the Gospels that He will come life a thief in the night, and for people to stay alert and ready for these events to take place. It can be interpreted to suggest that Christians will be around during all this tribulation, rather than being taken in the rapture before-hand, but I know that there is a lot of disagreement about when the rapture will take place. Other writers think that the two "reapings" in chapter 14 of Revelation suggest that this is when the rapture takes place, but the writer of this article on those verses in chapter 14 says that these "reapings" are of the souls who have accepted Christ during the tribulation, long after the Rapture of the church has happened. (Other writers suggest that Revelation 3:10 is the basis for the pre-tribulation rapture).

In verse 14, the demonic spirits gather the kings of the world and assemble them for a battle between good and evil at a place called "Harmagedon", which the writer at livescience.com refers to as Har Megiddo, a mountain (har) in Israel referenced multiple times in the Old Testament. Finally, at the end of this chapter, the seventh angel pours out his bowl which causes a tremendous earthquake, unlike any that have been seen on earth before, and seems to destructively alter the face of the earth. Mountains tumble down and presumably tsunamis rush over islands wiping them off the face of the earth, in the midst of lighting storms and hailstones weighing a hundred pounds. The hailstorm reminded me of the scene in the movie "The Day After Tomorrow", where melon-sized hailstones fall and kill people during a sudden storm in Tokyo,Japan. I can't imagine what damage hailstones weighing a hundred pounds would cause if those in the movie were so deadly. I really hope that everyone will accept Christ as your Savior and allow him into your heart while there is still time.
