Revelation 6:1-2

Then I saw the Lamb open one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures call out, as with a voice of thunder, “Come!”  I looked, and there was a white horse! Its rider had a bow; a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering and to conquer.

In this chapter begins the opening of the seven seals by the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ. When Christ breaks open the first seal on the scroll, we are shown a rider on a white horse with a bow and a crown. This article at Bibleref.com gives several interpretations of this verse and tells readers that we can't be too narrow in our guesses to the identity of this figure because of the dearth of information given about the rider on the white horse.

Another resource I found, at simplybible.com , takes a long view of this scripture and posits that this imagery may represent human conquerors over the  history of humanity, and talks about this as a symbol of the progression of different rulers over time; it also gives examples in the Bible of advice for Christians in dealing with conflict between human rulers and the rule of God and Christ.
