13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who from now on die in the Lord.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them.”
This verse about dying for Christ is beautiful and touching, and doesn't need much explanation. It demonstrates how we are supposed to live our lives on Earth, in obedience to Christ, so that we can spend eternity with God and Christ in Heaven.
Matthew Henry's commentary at biblehub.com pertaining to these verses says, "The preaching of the everlasting gospel shakes the foundations of antichrist in the world, and hastens its downfall. If any persist in being subject to the beast, and in promoting his cause, they must expect to be forever miserable in soul and body. The believer is to venture or suffer anything in obeying the commandments of God, and professing the faith of Jesus."
This hearkens back to Matthew 12:30 that tells us, "whoever is not with me is against me, and who does not gather with me, scatters". The first part of this verse is often quoted and misapplied to other subject matter, but what God is telling us in this Gospel is that when we are not on the side of Christ, and living our lives in a way that emulates His righteousness, we are scattering souls from being saved; we are being admonished to choose the side of Christ in all things. I hope that everyone will take hold of the spiritual salvation that Christ suffered so much to offer to us, and accept Him into your life as your personal Lord and Savior.
