Revelation 15:1-4

"Then I saw another portent in heaven, great and amazing: seven angels with seven plagues, which are the last, for with them the wrath of God is ended.

And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands. And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb:

“Great and amazing are your deeds,
    Lord God the Almighty!
Just and true are your ways,
    King of the nations!
Lord, who will not fear
    and glorify your name?
For you alone are holy.
    All nations will come
    and worship before you,
for your judgments have been revealed.”

This is such a beautiful scene to imagine, a multitude of worshipers surrounding a sea of glass mixed with fire, holding harps and singing ancient religious songs. In reference to the sea of glass, bibleref.com says, "The fire in the sea of glass may represent divine judgment that is about to fall on the wicked when the seven angels release the seven plagues mentioned in verse one."

Biblestudytools.com refers to the sea of glass this way, by saying, "...the sea typifies the troubled state out of which the beast arose, and which is to be no more in the blessed world to come...". I also found this blog, revelationcommentary.org, to be very helpful, as it gave a detailed explanation for each verse.

The "Song of Moses" which is being sung in verse three, is from Deuteronomy chapter 32, verses 1-43; it can be found here. This scene allows the reader to take a bit of a breather after all the chaos of the preceding chapters; it allows us to feel a bit of relief that the wrath of God that has unfolded with the opening of the seven seals and all the accompanying scenes of destruction. I hope that everyone will accept Christ as savior so that we can be among the many singing these ancient songs when the wrath of God has finally come to a conclusion.
