Revelation 11:13-14

13 At that moment there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell; seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

14 The second woe has passed. The third woe is coming very soon.

Just after the two witnesses of God's word ascend into the clouds at the command of God's voice, there is a massive earthquake. Not only does this kill seven thousand people, and presumably injure many more, but it also terrifies the rest of the people in this location and induces them to prayers and worship.

This article at gotquestions.org does a good job of surmising the three 'woes' of the book of Revelation. With so much prophecy and information coming at us so quickly in these chapters it is easy to get confused about the sequence of events; the writer here surmises the three woes in a few paragraphs. The earthquake is part of the second woe in which the four bound angels, which most scholars believe are demons, are released and allowed to kill a third of mankind.

I also liked this entry on concordant.org about the second woe, which talks about idolatry as the incitement behind so many of the events of Revelation: "The succeeding section of this Revelation (11:19-20:15) deals with Israel's failure to worship Him. Here we have the judgment due the nations for their departure from God. The first and foremost charge against them is the worship of demons and idols (Rev.9:20)."

I took tiktok off of my phone yesterday because it feels so toxic to me. Even though I like learning about so many different cultures and fragments of buried history that people talk about, there is so much satanism and wicca on so many of these platforms, as well as quite  a lot of sex work and general licentiousness that it begins to feel invasive of my spirit the longer I use it. I never realized how much those practices had proliferated among young people until I got tiktok.

Witchcraft or wicca in any form is worship of and calling upon Satan to intervene on this earth, something that God warns us against in the Bible, because Satan and his demons are so cunning and duplicitous and only seek to harm us and separate us from God. It doesn't surprise me that many people think we are in the end times when you observe how there has been a surge in practice of pagan and animist faiths and shrinking membership in the Christian church
