Revelation 20: 11-15

 The Dead Are Judged

11Then I saw a great white throne and the one who sat on it; the earth and the heaven fled from his presence, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, the book of life. And the dead were judged according to their works, as recorded in the books. 13 And the sea gave up the dead that were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and all were judged according to what they had done. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire; 15 and anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

The next collection of verses shows us God sitting on His throne, when books are opened, including The Book of Life, from which the dead are judged 'according to their works'.  After this Hades and Death itself are thrown into the Lake of Fire, which according to the text is eternal punishment and damnation.

This description of being thrown into the Lake of Fire is a very stark scene, and I hope that anyone reading will come to accept Jesus Christ so that they do not meet this fate. While some modern Christians believe that Salvation is a one time act, my experience has taught me that accepting Christ as our Savior is what I would call the 'wedding' part of a marriage. He then, once welcomed into our life via free will (because it has to be our choice), will become a daily presence in our lives. He becomes a constant lighthouse, guiding us out of sinful behaviors (acts that separate us from God), and into a way of living that is in line with the purity of these holy spirits in the Heavenly Realms. It is a lifelong process of instruction, not a single act that subsequently renders us free to act on our own impulses and expect perpetual forgiveness without the act of true repentance, or a real turn away from sin.

As Christians we will always have to repent to Christ when we fall into sin, but the point is to accept Christ's instruction so that we know how to avoid sinning in the first place. I hope that all will come to accept Christ as Savior and embark on this journey so that we can all stand in front of God knowing our names are written in the Book of Life, and we will not perish.
